Privacy Policy Statement
Statewide Superannuation Pty Ltd (ABN 62 008 099 223) as trustee for the Auswide divisions of the Statewide Superannuation Trust (Auswide) will ensure the personal information collected, held and disclosed by it will be maintained in accordance with the privacy provisions of the Privacy Act 1988 as amended.
Members' personal information typically includes name, date of birth, contact details (including address, telephone and email), gender, tax file number, occupation, employer details and any other information required to administer a member's interest in Auswide.
Auswide is committed to protecting your privacy. The confidentiality of your personal information has always been fundamental to the way Auswide conducts superannuation and other business relationships with you. Auswide strives to provide you with the best member service. The purpose of this Policy is to ensure you are treated fairly, with respect and to communicate the ways in which Auswide's information handling practices protect your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information. The information we collect about you and what it is used for
Information Auswide holds about you is information needed to manage your superannuation accounts, arrange life and disability insurance protection, process insurance claims, make benefit payments and provide ancillary financial services. If you provide information known to be incorrect or inaccurate, then the accuracy of the personal information Auswide holds about you may adversely affect the proper administration of your superannuation account or unduly delay the settlement of benefit entitlements.
Auswide not only collects personal information directly from you when you supply it in connection with an application for membership or request for services but may also collect personal information from third parties. Personal information may be collected from your employer, other superannuation funds, insurers, doctors or lawyers. Auswide may also disclose your personal information to its mail houses or Government regulatory bodies such as the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Australian Taxation Office and AUSTRAC that administer laws governing superannuation funds or complaint resolution processes established under those laws.
Your consent to the collection and use of sensitive information, such as health information, may be required for insurance purposes.
In addition, Auswide may hold information about your potential or actual beneficiaries in the event of death.
Marketing Information
Auswide will not trade, rent or sell your personal information to any third parties but we or other related entities and business partners may use your personal information to tell you about other products and services Auswide or its related entities or business partners may provide. The use of cookies
A cookie is a small text file that is placed by our computers on your computer. Cookies are commonly used to identify your computer but cannot find out your personal identify. We use cookies for a number of reasons, but specifically to ensure security in your use of the Auswide website. If you do not want to receive cookies you may configure your browser to reject all cookies or warn you when cookies are being used.

Safeguarding your information
Protecting the confidentiality of your information is important to Auswide. Our computer systems and network security procedures ensure our staff have thorough electronic and physical barriers in place to protect your information against unauthorised access, modification or use.
Security procedures and confidentiality measures are specified in staff employment contracts and service provider contracts which are confirmed in writing. Service provider contracts are audited regularly to ensure that they are being properly administered and that they remain effective and appropriate.
Depending on the type of product or services your information will be retained for a period of time that usually extends beyond the end of your relationship with Auswide. We retain this information for as long as it is legally necessary for us to have enough information to respond to matters that may arise at a later date or as otherwise required by regulatory agencies. When Auswide no longer needs your information, we have systems to destroy, delete, erase or convert it to anonymous form.
Access to your personal information
You can request access to the personal information Auswide holds about you and where able we will provide you access within a reasonable time. Most of this information is in the form of your membership application, correspondence with you and transaction records such as your account statements. You may access your account details by registering on Auswide's web site or, if you require other information, please contact Auswide.
As long as Auswide can verify your identity, the person you speak with may be able to provide you with the information you seek over the telephone or you may request the information is sent to you through the post. In some circumstances we may need time to consider and respond to your request for access and in some circumstances may charge you a fee for the cost of providing the information to you.
If we refuse to give you access to your information we will give you our reasons for doing so in writing. Auswide can release your personal information without your consent to such Government regulatory authorities as the ATO, APRA, ASIC and AUSTRAC or where there is a duty to the public to disclose that information as required by law or where the interests of Auswide require disclosure.
Where legislation requires, we will provide information about your interest in the Fund to:
- your former spouse; or
- a person who intends to enter into an agreement with you about splitting your superannuation interests in the event of separation of marriage (spouse or intending spouse).
The request must be in a form prescribed by law. The law prevents us from telling you about any such request.
In certain circumstances such as benefit payments and claims handling, Auswide may disclose your personal information to its Insurer, doctors, approved Complaints Tribunals and mail houses for member and employer notices.
Keeping your information accurate
Auswide information management practices take reasonable steps to keep your information accurate and up to date. Having accurate information about you enables Auswide to give the best possible member service. Allowing Auswide to share your information within Statewide Superannuation Trust ("Statewide") means requests for updates to your information can be made once for all of the products and services you have with Statewide and all of its divisions.
Where you believe there are errors in the personal information Auswide holds about you we will make the corrections immediately. However, for information that remains in dispute, Auswide will make a note of your opinion in the file.
Contracted services and disclosures
Auswide contracts out superannuation administration functions, marketing and specialist financial roles that include fund portfolio management and investment advisory services to service providers or external contractors. Auswide may disclose personal information to these organisations including the Fund's Insurer and its Auditors. Any disclosure of personal information is limited to that required to provide you with the services that Auswide has contracted out.
General enquiries and complaints
A dispute resolution scheme for handling complaints related to an intervention of the privacy of your personal information is available to you. You can complain about a privacy intervention in writing (letter, e-mail or fax) or by telephone to the Privacy Officer at Auswide. Contact details for all enquiries are:
